Ayrton Senna da Silva (São Paulo, March 21, 1960 - Imola, May 1, 1994) was a Brazilian driver in Formula 1 world champion three times, in 1988, 1990 and 1991. He was also runner-up in 1989 and controversial championship in 1993. He died in an accident at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola during the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994. It is recognized as one of the biggest names in Brazilian sport and one of the greatest drivers in motorsport history.Senna began his racing career in karting. He moved to motorsport competitions in 1981 and was champion two years following the British Formula 3 .

Championship. His performance in the previous categories led to debut in Formula 1 in Brazil Grand Prix 1984 by Toleman-Hart team. In his first season in the category, Senna had results quickly, leading to small British team to get performances ever achieved. The following year, the Toleman-Hart exchanged by Lotus-Renault team for which he won six Grands Prix over three seasons. In 1988, he joined Frenchman Alain Prost (that would be his biggest rival in his career) at McLaren-Honda and years lived by the victorious team.
